Riot Games has announced the launch of a new type of competition for top professional and semi-professional LoL players from North America. The announcement appeared on the official lolesports website.
“Champion’s Row” is created to provide a better single-player environment for professional players and to reduce the amount of toxic behaviour in ranked games by both cyber athletes and regular players. In doing so, the behaviour of professionals will be monitored, and all cases of unsportsmanlike behaviour will be reviewed by a special commission.
Players from the LCS (including academy squads), LLA, as well as representatives of the top 16 semi-professional teams in North America will be able to play in the Champion’s Lineup. In addition, players with the rank of “Master” or higher are eligible to apply. All approved applicants will be invited to a private Discord server and will also have access to automatic lobby creation, match statistics, and other tournament server features.
Champion’s Turn participants will play ranked matches on dedicated servers, earning ranking points and advancing in the standings. The competition will be divided into spring and summer splits, and the queue will run every day from 6:00 am to 11:59 pm Moscow time, as well as on Monday night to Tuesday night – a schedule created so as not to interfere with professional players’ preparation for the main matches. In all, $400,000 will be raffled off during the year as part of the championship.
