French President Emmanuel Macron has spoken out about the possibility of holding a major eSports tournament in France.
“In 2024, we will host the Olympics. My hope is that this year we can host one of the major cybersport tournaments in France: a major on CS:GO, Worlds or The International.
Having two of these three tournaments in the same year in the same country would be an exceptional occasion, but more symbolically, it’s about bringing elite sport and eSports together in France. And why not consider a tournament format involving national teams? It could give an impetus to the further development of eSports,” Macron said.
Earlier, Macron opened his own server in Minecraft.
