Riot Games names date for the 2023 World Championship

Riot Games has announced the dates and venues of the 2023 World Championship on League of Legends. Information about the main tournament of the year has been published on the official website of the game.

Worlds 2023 will be held in South Korea from October 10 to November 19. The starting stages of the Play-In and group stage will be held in Seoul, and the quarterfinals and semifinals – in Busan. The final match will again be played in Seoul at the Gocheok Sky Dome, with a capacity of more than 16 700 people.

Play-In ticket sales will begin on July 10, and the group stage on July 19. Tickets for the playoffs stage will go on sale on August 2.

In 2023, Riot Games changed the format of the World Cup. The Play-In stage will be a “duel” system: pairs of opponents will fight for two slots in the group stage. Groups of the event will now take place according to the Swiss system in a bo1 format until eight teams have three victories each. The decisive battles will be played in a best-of-3 format. The playoffs have remained unchanged: it’s still a single-elimination grid with games to three wins.

League of Legends developers also announced a special pass for Worlds 2023. It will include an in-game combat pass, a unique option for a skin released in honor of the World Cup, physical and digital gifts, and other exclusive content.
